On the River with the Viver.

Meet the touring professional Walleye angler, Roy Vivian.

Professional Walleye fisherman, Roy Vivian, joins the FHQ.com Writers Network with his very own blog. Roy tells us a little bit about himself:

Growing up I had two loves, playing baseball and fishing. My favorite summer days were spent fishing followed by a baseball game that night. I owe a lot to each of my loves. Baseball gave me an outlet for my intense competitive desire. With help from my High School Coach I enrolled at Parkland Junior College in Champaign. I then received a scholarship to a DIV I school, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Chronic shoulder problems ended my career, however I transferred to SEMO and graduated with a BSBA in Marketing. Without Baseball I would not have that degree, in fact I would not have gone to college at all. With baseball no longer being an option I looked for an outlet for my competitive drive.

Today, I am a tournament walleye angler who resides in Madison, WI. As a kid, I cut my teeth fishing the small streams and rivers in Northwest Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. I fished for “whatever would bite” but quickly found an appreciation, if not an obsession, for walleyes. This obsession along with his fierce competitive nature made for an easy transition into tournament fishing. With this blog I will share my philosophies and strategies along with tips and advice from each body of water I fish.  I will also blog candidly about somewhat controversial topics like teaming and on the water ethics. Follow along as I will give you an inside look into the life of a tournament angler as I try to win my first major walleye tournament.
