Abu Garcia Vendetta Spinning Rods

Great rods for the price tag.

Unless I’m either being paid for it, or sponsored by them, I tend to not spend significant time in composing literature boasting about how great random tackle companies products actually are.

But since I have been receiving questions about these rods seeing how they fare for catching fish, as evidenced by my many trophy Smallmouth Bass photos taken from the past few months, I figured that I should spread the word with what I know and what my viewpoints and opinions are.

For me personally, a fishing rod is a fishing rod. Unlike reels, I don’t see what makes one particular fishing rod better than another. As long as any kind of specific fishing rod fits my specifications or criteria, I go with it. Price is never a driving factor. Because I have no preference for fishing rods and use practically all of the major brands that are out there, I took a chance on this 2009 introduction by Abu Garcia.

During April of this year, I purchased a 6ft 6inch medium action spinning rod to be used specifically for sight fishing, and pulling fish out from beneath docks and boat houses. What I liked about this purchase was the fact that the rod is rated much lighter than what it actually is, and it fishes stronger than what it is actually rated as. If it somehow makes sense, pound for pound, this rod is an unbreakable workhorse that should be rated as a medium heavy instead.

Besides the aforementioned facts, what helped a lot in the decision for this acquisition is the fact that I did not have to break the bank for it as it retails for only $80 dollars.

The Vendetta I have is rated for up to 3/4oz, and can handle a multitude of applications. If throwing jerkbaits is your thing, go for it. If you catch monsters by sight fishing or skipping the docks, and wresting them out of thick cover, this rod is a pleasure to fish with.

As you can see, the Vendetta is an attractive rod. It contains the following aspects in terms of construction:

  • Fuji Soft-Touch Reel Seats firmly hold the reel in place and provide increased comfort
  • Pac Bay Zirconium Coated Deep Pressed Frame Guides create smooth, long casts
  • 30-Ton Graphite Construction provides durability in a lightweight
  • High Density EVA Handle for superior comfort and durability
  • Eye-catching Red Double Anodized Aluminum Reel Screw Down provides the ultimate in reel seat lock down
  • Factory tuned to Revo™ and Soron™ reels
  • Laser etched Abu Garciaź crest on butt cap
  • Convenient Texas rigged hook keeper

Other than this rod containing some unnecessary weight in its butt and reel-seat sections, I have no complaints. It takes a short while to get used to the feel of it as the rod weighs a lot for its size. While the eyelets of the guides could be smaller like most traditional spinning rods nowadays, I feel that it actually aids in the control you have with the rod and it does not impair casting accuracy.

Below are some of the finest of all Smallmouth Bass that have been brought to this boat thanks to this rod and my preferred applications for it.

If interested in the Vendetta line of fishing rods, check them out online at Abu Garcia. I’ve definitely been satisfied with them thus far!
