Out On The Water (Casting and Presentation)

Casting

Mepps spinners fly through the air due to their weight distribution. They sink slowly because of their life-like bucktail dressing. These Spinners were perfectly matched to their corresponding setup. The 1/6th ounce Mepps Agila was matched with medium spinning tackle, while the 1/4th ounce Mepps Aglia was matched on medium baitcasting tackle. The 1/2 ounce Musky sized Aglia spinner was matched with lighter than normal Musky baitcasting tackle.

The Musky-sized dressed Aglia - #5

Action/Presentation

These lures have a throbbing blade and a rippling/ pulsating action that fish can’t help resist. Mepps in-line spinners don’t represent any particular type of forage, but it will drives fish into curiosity, usually causing a reaction bite. Spinners can be retrieved many different ways. I prefer burning them over weeds, casting on weed edges, or trolled about anywhere. There are many different patterns of blades and bucktails to meet the conditions of any body of water.

The mid-sized dressed Aglia #3 - Perfect for Pike, Bass and Walleye.

Fish Catching Ability

These lures catch everything from Bluegill, Salmon, Bass and Stripers, to Musky. The #00, #0 and #1 Aglia spinners are perfect for trout and panfish, #2's and #3's work for walleye, bass and other mid to large-sized gamefish. The #4's and #5's can take the toothy critters and trophy sized Bass including Stripers. On many Bass outings, I’ve accidentally hooked into Carp, Catfish, and even Pike. These lures are considered to be the most versatile lure, although they are not too glamorous on the B.A.S.S. tour doesn’t mean they don’t work as good as good as any other lure. In cold water this lure is superior compared to anything else in my tackle box.

Possibly the most versatile lure, the Mepps #2 dressed Aglia

Ratings 0/5

Construction & Quality -With a wire shaft, it bends easily but can take a beating from toothy gamefish. 4

On The Water Uses - Can be retrieved in weeds, but can hang up easily. Very easy hookups thanks to a dressed treble hook. 4

Ergonomics -Not as high-tech as other lures, this classic lure truly excels! 5

Action -With a throbbing french blade, and a rippling, pulsating bucktail, the action can't be beat. 5

Price - Why not pay a few bucks for a true american classic! 5
