Before I make my official post from this morning’s outing with Special Ed and his son Robert, I will wait until all the media files are collaborated. I will tell you this though – we had a nice day out there, and the productivity was 400% better than last weekend’s rodeo!!

In the meantime, I shall entertain you, and especially those with Open (running) Water Steelie Cabin fever, with a video short of Keith and I scouting Oak Creek. The water is flowing, the snow is melting, and in short time, the mighty steelies will invade the tributary!

During our hike, I might’ve heard a fish splash, but other than that, I wasn’t able to sight a single fish. Yeah, its early, but I can hope, right?

Note – this may be more of a “Keith’s Bloopers” reel more than anything.

haha…actually, it looks like one of Keith’s better days..

I’ve never fished for steelhead before, nor fished Oak Creek, but I’m hoping to do both this spring. Can you give an overview of techniques, bait/lures (with some details, ex. when people say that they are “drifting spawn” – where do you get it and how do you rig it?), and access to Oak Creek? I don’t expect you to give away and “secret spots”, but just understanding where I’m going and what I’m trying to do would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Eric
